Local Riders Shine at Super Series.

Yes folks,it was indeed an amazing days racing at the 2nd round of the national champs.A big congratulations to all our local riders who, despite varied difficulties, not least of which was the canceling of the qualifying session due to a wet track, used the opportunity to show the national series competitors what they're made of,even if it meant fighting their way from the back of the grid.

The big battles of the day though, belonged to the juggernauts.Watching Lance Isaacs (Pretoria Noord/Kawasaki S.A ZX10R) battle with the 2 headed MV Agusta beast ridden by Cam Petersen and Brent Harran was absolutely amazing to behold. The LiquiMoly/Annassis team riders are on the edge and they have the bikes to match.I saw one of the riders get highsided exiting turn 4 but amazingly he came back down in the saddle.. all at about 200kph.In the Superbike series,Nicolas Grobler (Kawasaki SA/Pretoria Noord Toyota/Black Swan ZX10R) won his first podium in the national superbikes at the Cape Town circuit but not before two ten lap battles of attrition against Cint Seller (PS Czank Race! Kawasaki ZX10R) in which neither man ever wore down.

Local rider,Aran van Niekerk had an especially good second race, finishing third on the StuntSa/DMR Kawasaki ZX10R after losing the front under braking into turn 2,crashing out of a favourable position in the 1st race.Ronald Slammet's (I-S Freight Kawasaki 1000) day also looked rosy early on with what would have been a fantastic 4th place finish behind Chris Leeson (BMW Motorrad S1000R) in the 1st race but the result was unfortunately disqualified because of a technicality. In the Supersport competition,Nicholas v/d Walt and Brandon Haupt also had great pace in the 1st race with both riders methodically carving their way up the field only to have Van Der Walt slow suddenly in turn 5 causing privateer,Garrick Vlok to shunt him from behind. As usual the the bike at the front stayed up (only just) and Vlok went down, leaving Haupt to pick up the pieces and 6th place.

The next races for both the Super Series calender and the Western Province champs is on Saturday,6th April at Aldo Scribante circuit in Port Elizabeth and Killarney  in Cape Town respectively.Remember to follow your favourite riders on Twitter and check out the links for more info.
