MSA DRAG RACING & STREET2STRIP AT KILLARNEY: SAT 21st JUNE 2014

On Saturday 21st June Killarney will once again be hosting Drag racing and Short Circuit racing followed by the ever popular Street2Strip programme till later into the evening. The Drag strip will open with practice sessions from 9am while the first set of competitions scheduled to start at 11.30am and run through until 4.30pm.

Street2Strip will run from roughly 5pm and finish at 9pm with entries at the main gate caravan from 4.30pm till 6pm limited to the first 200 streetcar cars.

A new spectator stand has been completed on the left hand side of the main straight and improvement continue on the left hand side of the back straight. Additional areas are being prepared to improve the spectators and racers comfort by creating a mini food court in the middle of Turn 5.

The recent completed improvements at the run-off area of the drag strip has resulted in Motorsport SA allowing Killarney to host duel runs for vehicles running as quick as 9,5 seconds over the quarter mile. This has already resulted in many a nail biting runs between some of the top local competitors.

Entries and MSA licence applications will be available at the main gate caravan from 7.30am till 10.30am while scrutineering will remain open till 11am. MSA social licences are available for all streetcars (provided you don’t go quicker than 12,5 seconds) at a cost of R270. The MSA licence is valid till the end of the year. The same applies for motorcycle competitors provided you don’t go quicker than 11 seconds over the quarter mile. The MSA race entry fee is R150 for all competitors, including free access for the driver to get into the facility.

Gates open at 7am, R60 per person, U16 R20, U12 Free. R50 per person from 4pm and U12 Free. Spectators will also be entertained by Short Circuit racing taking place on the Killarney oval side of the facility from 9am till roughly 5pm.

MSA DRAG RACING LICENCE INFO FOR 2014:

All competitors wanting to participate at MSA sanctioned drag racing events require a MSA competition licence (social or club licence as per the info below).

(SOCIAL LICENCE) Info for STREETCARS running 12,5 seconds and more:

# MSA social licence is available to Streetcars running 12,5 seconds and slower (12,5 seconds and more) at Killarney International Raceway. The national rule is 11 seconds however in the interest of safety at Killarney this rule will be enforced from 12.5 seconds.

Social licence fee for 2014 will be R270 per person.

# Personal Accident Insurance(Medical Insurance) will be optional but highly recommended for social licence holders.
# This social licence will apply to Club classes only. Any competitor who has taken out this social / club licence will not be able to compete in a Regional or National Championship class with this licence. Any competitor who wishes to compete in a Regional or National Class on Regional or National race days must have a full Regional or National licence.

# Any car running quicker than 12.5 seconds regardless of whether it complies with the rules in Street Eliminator or Non Championship Street Drag racing rules, will have to take out a full club licence with compulsory Personal Accident Insurance(Medical Insurance) and WPMC membership.

# As of 2013 there are NO one day licence available for DRAGS / DRIFTING OR SPINNING.
# Bikes who run in Street Drag Racing and Club Championships only, are also eligible for this social licence. Any bike running quicker than 11 seconds will have to take out a full club licence with compulsory Personal Accident Insurance(Medical Insurance) and WPMC membership.

(CLUB LICENCE) Info for STREETCARS running 12,499 seconds and less:

# Any car running quicker than 12.5 seconds will have to take out a full club licence with compulsory Personal Accident Insurance(Medical Insurance) and WPMC membership.
# As of 2013 there are NO one day licence available for DRAGS / DRIFTING OR SPINNING.

These licence fees are only applicable to the facets that fall under the Drag Commission:
